Welcome to Jordan Lapp dot com. This is my attempt to capture in electronic form a lot about what I’ve learned after two decades in the industry. I’ve occupied roles as varied as desktop developer to VP of Product so much of what you’ll read here pertains to technology and technology leadership.
Why am I starting this blog?
I like to write. In the deep dark past, you might have been able to find some short fiction and even a novel that I wrote (under a pen name, looking at you Warhammer) floating around on the interwebs. My passion is organizational design and digital transformation, so that’s what we’ll be covering. I have no ulterior motive here. I’m just putting what I’ve learned out there in the hopes that it will spark some discussion and that I’ll make a few new friends with some shared passions.
What can you expect to read here?
My thoughts. I’ve got a terrible sense of humour and that’ll sometimes colour the commentary around here, but otherwise I’ll try and lay out what I’ve learned, supported by examples from my past and from industry articles. Is everything well-sourced? Not likely. Are my opinions valid? You decide. What if you disagree with them? Comment on them! Let’s start a discussion. That’s part of why I started this place.
What’s the end game?
I’ve spoken a few times in front of organizations like the Government of British Columbia and the Greater Vancouver Trade Board of Trade and I liked it. If you read anything here that you think your organization could benefit from hearing, I’m open to invitations.
